how it works.
It's a natural process,
just like two friends talking.
It all starts here.
After your interview session is booked, I'll email you a list of basic questions, such as: where and when were you born, how many siblings in your family, your parents names and occupations, etc. Just some demographic information to get us started. If you purchased the session for someone else, I welcome your suggestions on areas of interest to you. If you book your own session, we'll have a pre-interview conversation to see if there are specific directions you'd like to go. If not, I will take the lead and see where the stories take us.
The interview.
I'm able to conduct in-person interviews in Orange and San Diego counties. I will come to your home, or another quiet location of your choice. That's necessary to produce a clean audio result. Phone interviews work very well too, and are available nationwide.
We'll have a relaxed conversation using prompts to get the memories flowing. As in most conversations, we don't know in advance precisely where it will take us. That's the magic. It will be like sitting with a loved one over tea.
Something extra.
If you read my bio, you'll learn that I've worked as a professional photographer for the past 15 years. If the interview is conducted in person, I'll include a portrait of you at no additional cost. You'll receive the high resolution digital file and, if you purchase a printed book, it will be in it.
